Elementor Form Conditional Logic: Show Only the Questions That Apply

Conditional Display adds show and hide rules to the Animation Addons Form in Elementor 4. Ask "New or existing patient?" and only the right follow-ups appear. No code.

  • 7 rule operators, All or Any matching
  • Hidden fields never block submit
  • Rules re-checked on the server
  • Form runs on Elementor Free

The free Animation Addons Form already handles fields, spam protection, email, webhook and redirect on Elementor Free.

Demo variations

Five ways to use Conditional Display.

Every demo uses Conditional Display from Animation Addons Pro on Elementor 4's own elements. The settings on each card are a good place to start.

01Clinics and dentists

Dental booking: new or existing patient

A two-column Lumen Dental form. "Existing patient" reveals a patient-number field; "New patient" reveals a referral question instead.

Built with
Radio for patient type; Inputs with Action Show, Match All, Field Patient type, Operator Is, Value "Existing patient" (mirrored for "New patient").
Start with
Keep the patient-number field Required; it is mandatory only when visible.
02Agencies and freelancers qualifying leads

Agency project brief that grows with the budget

A Northwind Studio brief. When the budget Select is anything but "Not sure yet", a row with timeline and sign-off questions fades in.

Built with
A Select field for budget; a row (Div Block) of fields with Action Show, Operator Is not, Value "Not sure yet".
Start with
Rule on the row, not each field.
03Bakeries, restaurants and caterers

Catering order: delivery or collection

A warm Bakehouse & Co. order form. "Delivery" reveals the address block; "Collection" reveals a pickup-time field.

Built with
Radio for fulfilment; two rows with opposite rules (Operator Is, values "Delivery" and "Collection").
Start with
Address fields Required; they count only when shown.
04B2B SaaS and fintech sales teams

SaaS demo request by company size

A clean Paywise demo form. Team size over 50 reveals an SSO and invoicing checkbox group and a procurement-contact field.

Built with
A number Input for team size; a row with Action Show, Operator Greater than, Value 50.
Start with
Number Input with Min value 1 so the comparison always has a number.
05Product and help-centre teams

Support form that routes by topic

A Tally Notes support form. "Billing" shows an invoice-number field and a refund note; "Bug report" shows a File Upload.

Built with
Select for topic; a Paragraph and an Input with Operator Is "Billing"; File Upload with Operator Is "Bug report".
Start with
A Show rule on the paragraph keeps it hidden for everyone else.
Features

What you get with Conditional Display.

Every point below is a real control in the Conditional Display panel section or part of how it works. Nothing here needs custom code.

Short forms that convert better

Visitors see only the questions that apply to them, so you maintain one form instead of three.

Seven operators for real-world answers

Operator covers Is, Is not, Is not empty, Is empty, Contains, Greater than and Less than.

Hide whole rows, headings and paragraphs

Put a rule on a row and every field inside it follows. Headings and help text appear only when relevant.

Required only when visible

Required applies only while a field is shown. The server re-checks the rules, so hidden values never reach your inbox, Form Submissions or webhook.

Totals that match what visitors see

Hidden fields read as empty to Calculation fields (Pro), so a total never includes an option the visitor can't see.

Step by step

How to add Conditional Display in Elementor 4

Five steps from switching it on to publishing. The bold names are the exact labels you will see on screen.

Get Animation Addons Pro
  1. In WordPress, go to Animation Addon › Settings › Extensions and check that Conditional Display is on (it requires the Form widget).

  2. In Elementor 4, add the Animation Addons Form widget and the fields your rules depend on (Radio, Select, Checkbox or Input).

  3. Select the field, row, heading or paragraph that should appear or disappear, and click the branching-paths button on the Conditional Display row.

  4. Choose the Action (Show or Hide) and Match (All or Any), then add a rule: pick the Field, an Operator and a Value. Use + Add Rule for more.

  5. Click Save Conditions (an orange dot marks the element), test each path in Preview and publish. Remove all rules to turn the logic off.

FAQ

Questions about Conditional Display

Does Elementor have form conditional logic?

Elementor 4's Atomic Form, which needs Elementor Pro, does not include conditional logic as of version 4.3.3. Animation Addons fills the gap: its Form widget works on Elementor Free, and the Conditional Display extension in Animation Addons Pro adds show and hide rules to fields, rows, headings and paragraphs, with All or Any matching and seven operators.

How do I show a field based on another field's answer in Elementor?

Add the Animation Addons Form, select the field that should appear and open its Conditional Display row. Set Action to "Show this field when…", pick the earlier field, choose an operator such as Is and type the triggering answer. Save Conditions and test in Preview. Conditional Display is part of Animation Addons Pro.

Will a hidden required field stop the form from submitting?

No. With Animation Addons Conditional Display, a hidden field never blocks submission, even when set to Required, and its value is not sent. The server re-evaluates the same rules, so validation and stored submissions match what the visitor actually saw.

Why can't I see the conditions working in the Elementor editor?

Animation Addons keeps the form runtime inactive on the Elementor canvas so every field stays visible and editable while you design. Conditional Display rules run on the published page and in Preview. An orange dot on the Conditional Display row shows which elements have rules.

What do I need to use Conditional Display, and does it work with other forms?

Animation Addons Conditional Display needs the Animation Addons Form widget and an active Animation Addons Pro licence. It works only with fields, rows and text inside that form, because the rules, hidden-field handling and server check are built into its runtime, so Elementor's Atomic Form and other form plugins are not supported. Rebuild the form with the free Animation Addons Form first.

Is Conditional Display accessible and fast?

With Conditional Display, revealed fields fade in over 0.18 seconds, and Animation Addons skips the fade when the visitor's device asks for reduced motion. Form scripts load only on pages that contain a form, and fields stay real HTML controls that keyboards and screen readers can use.
