Key features of Post Rating Form

What the rating form does, each tied to a setting in the Elementor panel or to the plugin.

An Elementor star rating input with five icons from 1 to 5. Hover fills a star and the ones before it, a click keeps it. Pick any Rating Icon.

Review box for readers

Logged-in users get a textarea with your Review Placeholder Text and a button with your Button Text.

Login popup for guests

Visitors who are not logged in see the Login Button Text. It is the Elementor login to rate button: it opens a WordPress login popup and brings them back to the post.

You approve every review

Each review is saved under Post Ratings in WordPress admin as pending, with the post, author, rating and text.

Built-in spam guard

It works as an Elementor user rating form: only logged-in users can send, the request is checked, and a 30 second lock stops repeat sends on the same post.

Clear messages

"Review submitted for approval." shows for 2 seconds. Errors stay until a review goes through. Style both under Success Message and Error Message.

Any post type

Use it as an Elementor rating form for posts, pages or custom post types such as products, or as an Elementor post review form on a single template. Each rating is stored with its post type.

Styled from the panel

Set Title, Title HTML Tag and Text, then style Rating (Normal Color, Fill Color, Icon Size, Icon Gap), the Textarea (Width, Height, Placeholder Color, Border) and the Button with Normal and Hover tabs. Alignment works per device.

Step by step

How to add a rating form in Elementor

Five steps. The bold names are the labels in the Elementor panel and in WordPress admin.

  1. Install the free Animation Addons plugin. In Animation Addons → Widgets, turn on Post Rating Form. This also adds Post Ratings to WordPress admin.

  2. Open a post, or your single post template, in Elementor. Search for Post Rating Form and drag it below the content.

  3. In Content, set the Title, Title HTML Tag and Text. In Form, pick the Rating Icon and edit the placeholder and button texts.

  4. In the Style tab, set the Rating colours, the Textarea, the Button and the Success Message and Error Message.

  5. Publish, then rate the post as a logged-in user. Open Post Ratings, publish the review and show it with the Post Rating widget.

FAQ

Questions about Post Rating Form

How do I add a rating form to a post in Elementor?

Turn on Post Rating Form in Animation Addons → Widgets, then drag the widget into a post or your single post template. It rates the post it sits on.

Is there an Elementor rating form plugin?

Yes. Post Rating Form is part of the free Animation Addons plugin on WordPress.org. It is a free Elementor rating form that works with Elementor Free.

Can visitors rate without logging in?

No. Visitors who are not logged in can see the stars, but the button reads Log In to Rate and opens a login popup. After logging in they return to the post and can send a review.

Where are submitted ratings stored?

Under Post Ratings in WordPress admin. Each entry shows the post title, post type, author, rating, review and date, and you can edit the rating and review there.

Why are new reviews saved as pending?

In the current free version every review is saved as pending, even when Require Manual Approval? is set to No. Publish each review in Post Ratings to make it visible.

Can a reader send several ratings in a row?

Not within 30 seconds. A second review on the same post in that time gets the message "You have submitted a review recently. Please wait a moment before trying again."

How do I show the ratings on the page?

Add the free Post Rating widget. It shows the published ratings of the post as a list of reviews or as one average score out of 5.

Can I use it as an Elementor review form?

Yes. Readers give a star rating and write a review, so it works as an Elementor review form for blog posts, pages or custom post types.

Can I use it as an Elementor product rating form?

Yes. On a single product template it saves ratings for that product. It is separate from WooCommerce reviews and does not change the product's WooCommerce star rating.

Can I add two rating forms on one page?

Use one per page. The star inputs use fixed IDs and one group name, so a second form on the same page would conflict with the first.
