Post Rating for Elementor: Show reader star ratings as a list or an average

The Post Rating widget is the Elementor post rating widget that shows what readers think of a post. Pick List View for each review with name, date, stars and text, or Average Rating for one score out of 5. Ratings come from the free Post Rating Form, so the two make a complete Elementor star rating system for your blog.

Review flow

Rate, approve, then it is listed

The blog of a camera rental shop. A signed-in reader gives the post stars and submits. The review waits as pending until the shop publishes it. Then it joins the list and the score changes.

Rate, then Submit

Put a Post Rating Form and two Post Rating widgets on the post. Set the first Layout to Average Rating and the second to List View. Publish reviews under Post Ratings.

Features

Key features of Post Rating

What the widget gives you, each tied to a setting in the Elementor panel.

Two layouts

Set Layout to List View for every review, or Average Rating for one post score.

A real average

The Elementor average rating adds up all published ratings of the post and rounds to one decimal, for example 4.6/5.

Reviews with context

List View prints Elementor reader reviews with the name, a dash, the date, the star rating and the text, newest first.

Any rating icon

Choose the Elementor rating icon in Rating Icon: a star, a heart or any icon from the Elementor library.

Alignment per device

Set Alignment to left, center or right for desktop, tablet and mobile.

Star colours

In Rating, set Color, Active Color (#FFC107 by default), Icon Size and Gap.

The score circle

Style the Elementor post score with Border, Border Radius, Padding, Circle Size and Gap.

Stars for posts, from readers

It gives you an Elementor star rating for posts that readers fill in themselves. They rate with the Post Rating Form, you approve reviews under Post Ratings, and this widget shows the result. Style the Name (with its separator dash), Date, Review and Average Rating text to match your post template.

Step by step

How to add post ratings in Elementor

Five steps. The bold names are the labels in the Elementor panel and in WordPress admin.

  1. Install the free Animation Addons plugin. In Animation Addons → Widgets, turn on Post Rating and Post Rating Form; the form also adds the Post Ratings list that stores reviews.

  2. Open a post, or your single post template, in Elementor. Drag Post Rating Form below the content so logged-in readers can rate it.

  3. Drag Post Rating where the score should show and pick a Layout: Average Rating or List View.

  4. Choose the Rating Icon and Alignment, then style the circle, stars, name, date and review in the Style tab.

  5. When readers send reviews, open Post Ratings in WordPress admin and publish the ones you want to show.

FAQ

Questions about Post Rating

How do I show post ratings in Elementor?

Add the Post Rating widget to a post or a single post template and pick List View or Average Rating. It shows the published ratings of that post.

How to add star ratings to posts in Elementor?

Add Post Rating Form so readers can rate, then add Post Rating to show the stars. Publish the reviews under Post Ratings in WordPress admin and they appear on the post.

Is there a free Elementor post rating plugin?

Yes. Post Rating is part of the free Animation Addons plugin on WordPress.org. It is a free Elementor post rating widget and works with Elementor Free.

Can visitors rate a post with this widget?

No. Post Rating only displays ratings. To collect them, add the free Post Rating Form widget to the same post.

How do Post Rating and Post Rating Form work?

The form saves each rating from 1 to 5 and the review as an entry in Post Ratings, linked to the post. Post Rating reads the published entries for the post it sits on and shows them.

Who can rate a post?

Logged-in users. Visitors who are not logged in see a Log In to Rate button that opens a login popup. A 30 second lock stops the same user sending twice in a row.

Do new reviews appear right away?

No. New reviews are saved as pending in Post Ratings in WordPress admin. Only published reviews are shown and counted in the average.

How is the average rating calculated?

It adds up the ratings of all published reviews of the post, divides by their number and rounds to one decimal. It shows 0/5 until the first review is published.

Does Post Rating add star ratings to Google?

No. The widget prints plain HTML with no Review or AggregateRating schema, so it does not create rich results on its own.

Do I need Elementor Pro for Post Rating?

No. Post Rating and Post Rating Form are free and work with Elementor Free. As classic widgets they also work in Elementor 4, listed with the legacy widgets.
