FAQ

Questions about Filterable Posts

How to filter posts by category in Elementor?

Add the Filterable Posts widget from Animation Addons Pro and set up its Filter tabs. This is the Elementor posts filter by category that readers expect on a blog: they pick a category above the posts and the list updates without a page reload.

Can I filter posts by tag in Elementor?

Yes. The Filter section works with post categories or tags, so you can build a tag filter for topics or series.

Filterable posts vs Advanced Posts: what differs?

Filterable Posts is built around the filter, with a masonry layout and a post popup. Advanced Posts has five layouts, load more and infinite scroll, and its filter is optional.

Can I build Elementor filterable blog posts for any post type?

Yes. Use the Query section to choose the source and limit the posts by category, tag or a custom query. Elementor filterable blog posts and custom post types use the same widget.

What happens when a reader clicks a post?

With the popup on, the post opens in a card on the same page with its image, category, title, meta, excerpt and Read More link. With the popup off, the post links to its page.

How does the filter animate?

The posts that stay move from their old place to the new one in 0.5 seconds, one after another. Posts from other categories are hidden.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. Columns change per screen size, the large masonry tile can drop to a normal tile on phones and the filter wraps onto more lines.

Does it work in Elementor 4?

Yes. It is a classic widget, so Elementor 4 lists it with the legacy widgets and it works on the same page as atomic elements.
