Features

What you get with the Video Mask.

Every option below is a real control in the Video Mask panel or part of how the element renders. Nothing here needs custom code.

Five built-in mask shapes

Pick Circle, Flower, Sketch, Triangle or Blob from Mask Shape. The shapes are built into the element's stylesheet, so there is nothing to upload.

Click to reveal, click to return

Clicking the button drops the mask and starts the video in its full rectangle. A second click restores the shape. With Loop off, the shape returns by itself when the clip ends.

The mask follows the button

The visible window is centred on the Video Mask Button. Move the button in its Style panel and the shape moves with it, in the editor and on the live page.

A real, styleable button

The button holds an SVG icon and a text label. Swap the icon, add a Heading or Image, and style it with Classes. Close Title sets the text shown while the video is open.

No remote files by default

A new Video Mask starts with no video URL, so nothing loads from another server until you add your own MP4.

Built on the atomic base

How the Video Mask is built (atomic structure)

Why it mattersThe button is a container you design like the rest of the page, and the mask follows wherever you put it.

FAQ

Questions about the Video Mask

How do I put a video inside a shape in Elementor?

Install the free Animation Addons for Elementor plugin and add the Video Mask element. Paste an MP4 link into Video Link (MP4) and choose a Mask Shape: Circle, Flower, Sketch, Triangle or Blob. The Animation Addons Video Mask plays the clip inside that shape until a visitor clicks the button to see the full frame.

Can I use my own SVG shape or change the mask size?

Not in the panel. The Animation Addons Video Mask offers five built-in shapes, Circle, Flower, Sketch, Triangle and Blob, with no custom SVG upload. The shape is 200px by default and has no size control. To clip a container to your own SVG instead, use the free Mask extension from Animation Addons on a Flexbox.

Can I use a YouTube or Vimeo video in the Video Mask?

No. The Animation Addons Video Mask plays one direct MP4 file from a URL, such as a file in your Media Library. For YouTube, Vimeo or Dailymotion, use the Animation Addons Video element, which has a full player; Elementor's own YouTube element also handles YouTube.

Why doesn't my masked video autoplay on mobile?

Mobile browsers only autoplay muted video. In the Animation Addons Video Mask, keep Mute on with Autoplay, and turn on Plays Inline so iPhones play the clip inside the page instead of full screen. Plays Inline is off by default. Keep the MP4 short and compressed, because the whole file loads on phones too.

Is the Video Mask accessible?

Partly. The Animation Addons Video Mask has no player controls, captions or pause button, and its button is opened with a mouse or tap, not the keyboard. Use it for short decorative teasers, not for content people must watch or hear. Keep Loop off or the clip short, and put any spoken message in text on the page too.

Will a masked video slow down my page?

The Animation Addons Video Mask adds one small script and stylesheet only on pages that use it, but the MP4 is the real weight. With Autoplay on, the video starts downloading on page load. Use short, compressed clips, and turn Autoplay off when several masks share a page so only the clip a visitor opens plays.

What happens when the masked video ends?

If Loop is off, the Animation Addons Video Mask returns to its shape by itself when the clip finishes. If Loop is on, the video keeps playing. Clicking the button while the video is open restores the shape, and the clip carries on playing inside it.
