Features

What you get with the Search Query.

Every option below is a real control in the Search Query panel or part of how the element renders. Nothing here needs custom code.

Shows the visitor's search term

On the live results page, Search Query reads the search term from WordPress and prints it after your lead-in text, inside its own span.

Your own lead-in, in any language

Change Search Text to "Results for", "Résultats pour :", "Recipes matching:" or anything else, or leave it empty to show the term alone.

Lists the filters that shaped the results

When visitors filter with the Animation Addons Search Form, Search Query adds lines such as "Category: Breads, Pastry" and "Date: From 2026-01-01 to 2026-06-30", or "Date: From …" / "Date: To …" when only one date is set. Without the Search Form's filters, only the title line shows.

The right heading level

HTML Tag offers H1 to H6, div, span and p. The tag wraps the lead-in and term, so an H1 stays a real H1 for search engines and screen readers.

Works with the free Theme Builder

Place it on a Search Page template in the Animation Addons Theme Builder; no Elementor Pro Theme Builder needed.

Nothing extra to load

Search Query ships no stylesheet and no script. Typography and colour come from the Style tab and pass down to the term and filter lines.

Built on the atomic base

How the Search Query widget is built (atomic structure)

Why it mattersOne Class styles the whole heading. The term and filter lines have stable class names, so Custom CSS can give the term an accent colour or turn filters into pills.

StructureNavigator
  • Search Querywrapper: Style tab, Classes
    • Title in the HTML tag you choose: Search Text + search term.aae-a-search-query-term
    • Filter lines.aae-a-search-query-filter, only when filters are active

FAQ

Questions about the Search Query

How do I show "Search Results for" and the search term in Elementor?

Add the free Animation Addons Search Query element to a Search Page template built with the Animation Addons Theme Builder. Search Query prints your Search Text, "Search Results for:" by default, followed by the term the visitor searched. It works on Elementor Free with the Atomic Editor on and needs no Elementor Pro.

How do I create a custom search results page in Elementor Free?

In WordPress, open Animation Addon > Theme Builder, add a template of type Archive/404/Search and set Display to Search Page. Edit it with Elementor, add the Animation Addons Search Query element for the heading and a Loop Grid set to Current Query (Archive) for the results. Both are free.

Can the search results page show which filters were used?

Yes. When visitors filter with the Animation Addons Search Form, the Search Query element lists the active filters under the title, such as "Category: Breads" or "Date: From 2026-01-01 to 2026-06-30." Searches made with other search forms show only the title line, because they do not send those filters.

Can I change or translate the "Search Results for" text?

Yes. Type any wording into the Search Query element's Search Text field: "Results for", "Résultats pour :" or any other language, or leave it empty to show only the term. The Animation Addons Search Query stores exactly what you type, so on a multilingual site use a separate search template per language.

Can I style the search term differently from the lead-in text?

Partly. The Search Query element has one Style tab, and the term and filter lines inherit its font and colour. To give the term an accent colour or turn the filter lines into pills, add Custom CSS on .aae-a-search-query-term and .aae-a-search-query-filter. Custom CSS is a free Animation Addons extension.

Should the search results title be an H1, and is it accessible?

Usually yes. The Search Query element's title is the results page's main heading, so set HTML Tag to H1 and use H2 or H3 for result titles below. Animation Addons Search Query renders a real heading containing the full term, and filter lines as plain text, so screen readers and search engines read everything.

Why does the search title show "Hello World" in the editor?

The Elementor editor has no real search, so the Search Query element shows "Hello World" as a sample term to style against, with no filter lines. On the live search results page, Animation Addons Search Query replaces it with the visitor's actual term and any active category and date filters.
