An interior journal shows eight categories as photo slides, four in view. Each has a dark overlay and the name underlined at the bottom. A new slide comes in every 3 seconds, and the photo zooms in on hover. Under the slider, the latest stories name the category they belong to.

Hover a slide or drag

Set Layout to One. In Slider Settings, set Slides to Show to 4, Autoplay to Yes, Autoplay delay to 3000 and Loop to Yes.

Two layouts

Pick an Elementor category slider layout with Layout One for the name over the category photo, or Two for a photo card with the text below.

Key category information

Build an Elementor category slider with icons: show the category Icon, name, post count, Slogan and description, and drag the Category Content list into any order.

Your own count text

Turn on Show Counter and write the Article Text, such as Articles, Posts or Recipes.

Choose the categories

Set how many with Show Category, sort by date, title or random, and decide on empty and child categories.

Slider settings

Set Slides to Show and Space Between per device. Turn on Loop for an Elementor category slider loop that never reaches an end, or use Enable Grid for more than one row.

Tune the Animation Speed of each move, and set the Left/Right Direction to match your reading order.

How to make a category slider in Elementor: five steps, no code. The bold names are the labels in WordPress and the Elementor panel.

  1. Install and activate Animation Addons for Elementor, then turn on Category Slider in Animation Addons → Elements.

  2. In Posts → Categories, edit each category and add an Upload Image, an Upload Icon and the Additional Text used as its slogan.

  3. Open your page in Elementor, search the panel for Category Slider and drag it into a section.

  4. Choose the Layout and the parts to show, then set Show Category, Order By and Order in Query.

  5. In Slider Settings, set Slides to Show, Autoplay, Loop and Animation Speed, style it and publish.

How do I make a category carousel in Elementor?
